A little friend of mine who is having her birthday this weekend is going to receive one of my custom made capes for her present. I am so excited to feature a "woodland picnic" embroidery which has been in my mind for some time.
Woodland friends, hedgehog, badger and fox gather together for a party. The friends are gathered on a blue checked picnic blanket,nestled under the shade of an apple tree, about to blow out candles on a birthday cake.
I found the perfect fabric in a thrift shop recently. Some soft natural coloured linen to embroider for the exterior and patchwork style fabric in greens and browns for the lining/reverse. The cape is completely reversible, so the lining could also be the exterior.
The birthday girl's party is tomorrow so I will be putting the finishing touches on tonight. As I don't want to spoil the surprise, I'll post some pics after her party with the finished result.
