I popped an extra blanket on the bed last night so I guess it won't be long until I pull out my faithful hot water bottle. Despite ownership of an electric blanket, in my view there is nothing more comforting than snuggling up with a nice warm hottie :)
My Gran knitted me a pink hot water bottle cover when I was younger and although I still have it, it is looking slightly worse for wear after all these years. I do hate to part with it, but a new hottie cover was on the cards.
I used some leftover wool fabric from these embroidered children's coats, to sew up a few little hottie covers this week. I embroidered the same design as the little coats - "Make a Wish" dandelions. Embroidering on wool, with woolen yarn is such a pleasing thing to do. It works up really quickly and has a lovely bold, yet soft look to it - and as you know I just love to embroider botanical designs...
I kept one of the lovely apricot pink ones for myself, and the other is for my shop this week along with a gorgeous soft green one.
It may seem a little silly, but I am really excited and pleased about my new hottie cover. Previously I wasn't looking forward to winter, but now it doesn't seem quite so ominous anymore. Something to be said for old fashioned goodness.
Xx
Oh I'm with you on the hot water bottle front! So so cozy! The only thing is that I never want to get out of my bed in the morning because the temperature difference is too great!

ReplyDeleteWe don't do electric blankets either - but are a wheat bag family. I had to whip up a couple of new ones for the kids the other day as couldn't find last years (think I might have feed them to the chooks!) Have you thought of doing wheat bags with your lovely designs?
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely hottie weather here too!
ReplyDeleteLove your dandelion design and the wool covers must be so soft and snuggly.

My interest in hot water bottles and their covers (yours are so v.pretty) has gone so far I'm writing a book in daily instalments, The Eventful Life of Archie the Royal Hot Water Bottle whose adventures don't seem to end, like the list of uses for hot water bottles.
