Rose Slippers
November 22, 2012
My little girl loves being outside in her gumboots and seems to be putting them on and taking them off at every opportunity. There is a pair stationed at every door leading outside, but in terms of indoor shoes she is a bit lacking.
She needed some warm soft shoes/slippers for padding around the house in since outgrowing the cloth shoes I have made her (and the pattern too). I spent some time last week drafting a brand new pattern for her.
Using her foot measurement and adding some extra length for a bit of growth I sketched up the pattern with a few "fit" improvements from the original. It took a few trial pairs before I got the length/width just right for her.
The beautiful dusky pink wool was leftover from making these embroidered coats and is beautifully thick and warm. So thick I had to adjust the pattern yet again (slightly) to accommodate the extra bulk! More little wool scraps were used to fashion the roses.
Lovely sweet warm slippers for my lovely sweet girl. xx
