Our little girl has been really enjoying "playing house" with the dolls at our local play-group. Putting them down for a nap, giving them a bath, taking them for a stroll... So for her second birthday we have been working away at creating a little dolls set just for her.
At the end of last year I was lucky enough to source a second hand wooden dolls cot, high-chair and pram. Unfortunately they were painted an icky lime green and in less than perfect condition. Slowly, in the evenings over the last month we set to work restoring them. My honey lovingly sanded them back and I painted them in the same smokey-white as the walls in her room.
I sewed some little sheets (I pinched a bit of fabric off the side of one of her own bed sheets which she really likes!) and I was gifted this super soft merino baby blanket from a friend who knew what we were putting together - thanks A. The little mattress for the cot is finished now too.
With less than a week to go, I had better stop writing this and get a move on with her other things...
Will share an update soon :)

DeleteWhen you're a carpenter making a beautiful chest of drawers, you're not going to use a piece of plywood on the back, even though it faces the wall and nobody will ever see it. You'll know it's there, so you're going to use a beautiful piece of wood on the back.

Most people have no concept of how an automatic transmission works, yet they know how to drive a car. You don't have to study physics to understand the laws of motion to drive a car. You don't have to understand any of this stuff to use Macintosh.

ReplyDeleteEvery year, thousands of people come to the United States from other countries. The reasons are varied – to look for work, to reunite with family, to get a fresh start – but the goal is the same: finding a place to call home.
