I love the idea of having frogs in our "jungle" garden. They are there naturally, and it seems like there will be more joining them soon. Our tadpoles joined us a month or two ago, you can read about their arrival here, and we have been watching the first one or two grow legs over the last week and now we have our first one with arms too! Our little girl feeds them each night with frozen spinach after her dinner.
It won't be long until we can release them into the garden to join their brothers and sisters. The other day I even spotted one outside the window in our banana trees! You can see it slightly below the centre of the pic above.
Oooh I can't wait!
xx
Wonderful photos Lisa ... I did not know they ate frozen spinach :-) Your pics are amazing - I read somewhere that frogs are getting rare in New Zealand now. I saw one on a lilly pad in my pond this summer & actually thought it was a fake & someone was playing a joke on me .. I very nearly fell in when it hopped up & swam away !!!!!
ReplyDeleteSpotted it!! We love watching our frogs too....with have quite a few in our dams, and occasionally one of the kids will find one amongst our gardens! When we were still swimming in the big dam, we would see one pop up to the surface to float, and then quick as a flash pop back down under again!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, we used to raise tadpoles as kids....in an old bath behind the chicken coop. Lots of fun.
ReplyDeleteAwesome pics. I remember collecting frogspawn and raising tadpoles as a child, I think its a rite of passage :-) I love that you can release them into the garden and they can live in your trees.
