Making Boots

May 02, 2014

Things have been a little quiet here, as it has been excitingly full pace in the Big Little studio...

I've been working away on some lovely new patterns, including some which I actually sketched over three years ago!  The first of the new collection are some warm and happy blanket boots.

It has taken quite some time, but I believe I have created the perfect slipper boot!
Wool outer from vintage blankets, fully lined in soft fabric, gentle elastic encased in between the layers to stay on active feet, a super thick and comfy felted insole with leather outer soles - great for low slip on wooden floors, not to mention really adorable :)

I am seriously so, so pleased with them - even though I almost lost my sanity getting them just right.  With a little help in grading them up to larger sizes, they now also go up to youth size 4 (about 8 years).  Wahoo!

So stay tuned in the next few days for some pics of my first pairs to leave the studio -  I can't wait to share them with you.  I'm just a tiny bit proud of them, can you tell?

xx

  5. These are just wow. And love the idea of boots made of blankets! They look super. I've got a little person kicking around in my belly at the moment, so for us it's still a while to go until needing a boot but i hope you'll be still making them in a couple of years time (although it's more than tempting to nab one now!) looking forward to seeing more!

  7. I just showed these to my 8 year old, who commented that they're pretty and she'd wear them. These would have been perfect for my girls to wear inside the hut we stayed at this weekend.
