Recently I was invited to review a wonderful children's book, shortlisted for the NZ Post Children's Book Award. This book was written by the lovely Terri Rose Baynton who lives in the beautiful seaside community of Waihi Beach - who could resist!
Mr Bear Branches and the Cloud Conundrum is an endearing tale of a bear, along with his good friend who dreams of sitting amongst the clouds. When reality bursts his friends dream, Bear presents a solution to their "Cloud Conundrum" that truly delights!
I really loved the simple theme of this sweet little story which reminded me of my childhood, when I loved gazing at the clouds wondering if they would feel like giant marsh-mellows.
Although our little girl is too young to really understand the full meaning of this story, the words fall beautifully off the tongue and when she is a little older it will be a wonderful way for her to learn about condensation and evaporation.
Terri's illustrations are absolutely charming - simple yet endearing. I loved them so much, I created a VERY special Mr Bear Branches Coat to celebrate this lovely story (with her kind permisson) to GIVE AWAY to a very lucky reader!
