It started with a simple idea... and after lots of conversations and help from some kind and generous bloggy friends around New Zealand, we are now excited to launch "The Hottie Project 2013"

With your help, we are hoping we can make winter a little cosier and warmer for a bunch of lovely children by creating a BIG stack of lovely warm hottie covers to keep Christchurch children cosy this winter.  Both crafters and non-crafters contributions to the project are oh-so-welcome :)

Here's how crafters can help:
  • Create a hottie cover!  Sew, crochet, knit, embroider - whatever takes your fancy!  The key here is keeping children warm, so your hottie cover doesn't need to be super fancy, just lovely and cuddly and something you would love to keep your children warm.
  • If you need a free template/pattern please leave a comment below and drop me a line at thebiglittleshop@gmail.com . If you leave an anonymous comment it means I don't have your email address to send you the pattern, so please email me as well :)
  • Post your finished hottie cover to post to: PO Box 80161, Green Bay 0643, Auckland, or  PO Box 10100, Chirstchurch or drop in to the Make Cafe in Christchurch. If you can include a hot water bottle with your cover it would be much appreciated, although not essential.  I am located in Titirangi and if you would like to drop them in to me here, pop me an email and we can arrange, alternatively I will be at Crafternoon-Tea Market in Kingsland on the third Sat of the month if you would like to drop them in to me there.
  • Link up!  Join the linky below and share pics of your hottie cover project and inspire others.
  • Promote the project on your blog and facebook.  Share the button below.  #hottieproject on instagram and twitter.
  • The finished hotties are kindly being distributed via KidsCan.
  • The LAST care parcel will be finalised at the end of July 2013.  Many thanks.

Here's how you can help in other ways...
    • Donate woollen blankets to be made into hotties by someone else.   Send to PO Box 80161, Green Bay 0643, drop in to me at Crafternoon -Tea Market on the third Sat of the month or contact me at thebiglittleshop@gmail.com for pickup within some areas of Auckland.
    • Promote the project on your blog and facebook.  Share the button below.  #hottieproject on instagram and twitter.

Many thanks to Cat and Sophie for their support in helping me get this project off the ground. You guys are awesome.  x

Could you send me a template please, I'm determined to have a bash. msmaxbennett@gmail.com.
As you know I have 'a bit' of a blanket stash. any particular colour you think would be most suitable?
Also, is there an end date for completion? I work best with a deadline, (and I also need to know it's feasible for me!)
