I love the combination of a beautiful coat in a colour which can be worn every day, in "real" places of play. I made our little girl a coat last year from a woodland blanket for exactly this purpose.
The blanket I found I wrote about here, but I'm not sure I shared pics of what I made from that wonderful find, so here are a few images of the finished garment taken at our little beach last year. That coat saw many trips to the beach, playground, sandpit, walks in the bush and adventures with grandparents.
I'm looking forward to making more of these cute (and dare I say it without sounding like my mother) practical, winter coats with my new op-shop finds. Maybe even a little hobbit-esque cape with the greeny-yellow one. Ooh exciting.
If you wish to make your own pixie coat from a blanket you have found - I have made my pattern available here.
Linking up with The Op Shop Showoff, The Nifty Thrifty, Coastal Charm, Magpie Monday and Sirthiftalot.
I love the greeny coloured blanket. I could see a kid blending into the forest in it. i would be stoked to find these.
