  1. Hello!!!! I love your jackets so much, they are beautiful!

My favorite winter item as a child was this honestly ugly hat - haha! It was super long and tapered, it went down past my waist.... and it was THE popular item among all my friends so we all had one. It was made of fleece and had bold stripes all over it. Looking back I am embarrassed haha!!!

  2. My favourite was a duffle type jacket made by my nana, it was light brown cord, with dark brown faux fur for a trim and had toggles to do it up. It also had a silky lining! I still have it although none of my children have worn it, it's a bit worn out! But I love it to bits.

What a generous giveaway Lisa! Love your capes and jackets so much!

  3. Although I hate winter - I do love coats! I can't remember a particular winter garment from MY childhood - however, I do love hats and just bought one for my little 8month girl .. SO much fun after having 2 boys to get some cute girl stuff! (although I have to say your boys pirate jackets are just to die for .. SO CUTE!) .. I've been drooling over your coats and the cute little pixie hats .. you are very creative!! xo

Oooh, would so love to win one of your jackets! I would have to say my pink sheepskin slippers were a favourite. I remember wearing them at the family bach in Taupo when it was freeeeeezing cold.

  5. I had one of those retro cream fake fur coats when I was small ~ I was over the moon when I found a similar one in the op-shop for Sadie. She calls it her 'baby coat' in reference to my one when I was small. jxx

  6. Hi. I found your site via Janelle at Heart Felt.
My Mum made all of our clothes when my brother and I were little. It was cheaper to make than to buy, unlike now, sadly. I have a photo of us both wearing matching navy blue duffle coats with pale wooden toggles. I also had a muffler made from faux white fur to keep my hands warm in winter. I felt so grown up.

  8. I honestly can't think of a single winter item of clothing I enjoyed as a child - I'm fairly sure I wore barefeet and t-shirts all year round!
I would adore one of your darling coats for my Daughter though, just in case she grows up feeling the cold more than I did : P

  9. as a child of hand me downs (from my brother) - My most loved winter item was my Black Donkey Jacket - and pink mittens which had the string through the arms so I couldn't loose them - and were made by my nanna to make the boys jacket more girlie!! Gotta love them days - might have to make my little girl some mittens for these cold days !!

  10. I came from a nice warm place, so I don't remember much about winter clothing, except a black and red checkered blanket from my grandma's. Oh, I still can smell it...

  13. What a generous giveaway!

My favourite was a baby blue poncho. It had a little lamb design on one corner and was super comfortable to wear. I was gutted when I grew out of it and my Mum made me wear a hideous orange and brown one instead (yuk!)

  15. I'm sure my favorite winter item that I have for my daughter is the cape you had made with the little mouse tied with the red velvet one...so hard to decide which one I love more. My own personal favorite winter items as a child were the little whimsical hats and gloves sets that looked like animals my mom found for me as well as a little plaid wool duffle coat I had. I also loved a furry coat that I had...so soft!

  16. I love your coats and winning one for my little girl would be fantastic. As for my favourite item as a child- I remember falling in love with a pair of red leather shoes one childhood winter. They didn't actually fit, but I told Mum they did, so she bought them. They rarely got worn, but I still loved them. Sadly I didn't learn from the experience and have been known to do the same thing as an adult- not recently though! I also had a winter coat bought at a local opshop in Sweden, when we arrived there when I was 8. At the time I hated it and swore I would never shop at opshops when I grew up. Looking back it was the kind of thing I would find great joy at finding in an op-shop. Thanks. Cx

  18. Your coats are gorgeous...

My favorite clothing was actually a caplet - I cant remember much about it but I was always super excited to use those little slits for my hands to go through : )..I think it was red...

  19. I love your coats - they're fantastic, and you're very generous to give one away!

I remember a pink and purple crocheted poncho that my mum made me, but I think that in fact my favourite was my gum boots - I loved having warm dry feet whilst stomping around the paddocks in them.

Future-wise I'm looking forward to crafting a coat for my little one from some blue and cream check fabric and a vintage pattern I have sitting in the cupboard.

  20. These coats are exquisite. I want a grown up one for me. That is what is so nice about then actually , they are not too 'kiddy' and could easily be for adults changing only the size not the colours or styles.

  21. Oh I love your coats!
My favorite winter item was a long dress with ong sleeves, and it had a very folky pattern along the bottom. A friend of my mothers let me pick it myself from a second hand market when I was a child. I remember thinking it was the most beautiful dress in the world.

  22. My favourite garment was a knitted jacket that my mum made from a Mon Tricot pattern book. They were french books, translated to English & very trendy in the 70's - you can sometimes find them in op shops or on trade me and the patterns are very easy to knit. I wore that jacket until it fell apart but I have all my mum's knitting patterns and am going to knit one for my daughter.

I know a lovely wee girl who would just love one of your jackets or capes.

  23. What a great giveaway. As a child my favorite winter item was my hand knitted cardi from my nana. I did infact have a matching one to my brothers ( because you could do that in the 70's ) so I had the joy of wearing his once he grew out of it. I love seeing the children of today wearing beautiful handmade items.

What gorgeous things you make! I would love love love one of your fabulous pieces for my wee nugget!

Much like her Mumma, she feels the cold terribly so I am always on the lookout for something fabulous and cute to rug her up in. So I guess that is my dream winter garment for her, a coat that is warm and functional with some serious style to boot!

  26. your coats are so gorgeous and they look so super warm- and much nicer than the polar fleece jackets my girls have at the mo! I think my fav winter garment when I was little if they can be called garments, were my gumboots and my 3 year old must have inherited that as she would wear hers all year round if she could!

I have only just found your blog and facebook page through MouseHouse and am now a liker on Facebook. Your jackets look so delicious, my daughter would look so cuddly and warm in one of these so my fingers and toes are crossed.

My favorite winter item is one I still have, its a gray jacket that was my Dad's and I've had since I was 11. Over 15 years later and I still wear it frequently.

  36. Your jackets are devine!
My favourite thing when I was little was my handmade winter pinafores, they were always a red or green tartan!

  37. Hi! I was just admiring your beautiful jackets on Felt yesterday, soo soo gorgeous.

My favourite childhood winter garment was a blue knitted jacket with a pixie hood. My imaginative hippy mum used left over bits of wool to make the most divine fair isle/russian folk art inspired designs on it, including two rows of 'paper doll like' figures holding hands and dancing. I can just imagine the delight she got from creating it, and will always remember just how loved and warmed I felt wearing it. I dont know where the jacket is now, and I often get a bit sad about that.

Ooooooo we adore our Cherubs coat & hat :o) Wish my mum had made something similar for me when I was a wee lass...everyone just remembers a bright orange woolen blanket my nana gave her for me - she turned it into a bright orange winter dress for me instead!!! I also remember some rather...charming...sweaters she made for us all - the boys all matched & so did mine & mums ;o) I'll be sticking to you experts for my kiddies when it comes to hand made!!!

  42. I love love love those coats! So cute and beautiful!

To be honest - I do not really remember any favourite winter garment. However, I love love love those cute capes - I would love to have one for my kids. (And even for myself) I have however not gotten around to make one. As I live in Germany it is summer now ... so maybe this year I get some ready before autumn ... :-)

(And of course in case I do win I would pay something toward postage.)

    Love,
    Ursula

Love them all. My favorite winter coat was a faux white rabbit coat--pea coat style. Topped off with go go boots. Can you tell I was a child of the 60s?

  44. My favorite winter item was a reversible coat that was black on one side and shiny gold lame on the other. Boy, did I love that coat. Whenever I see pictures I cringe - it was truly horrific! I would love to see my 3yo wearing one of your gorgeous coats. Thanks for having a giveaway!

My favorite winter garment as a child was a pair of snow boots. It didn't snow where I grew up, so it was a special treat to take the 2 hour trip to the mountains to go sledding!

My favorite Girls Winter Coats for my daughters were from Burlington Coat Factory. They looked great in them and loved them so much that they actually WANTED to wear their new coats. Best of all, I saw the same jackets at the department stores, for more than twice what I had spent. All around, it was definitely a favorite for everyone.
