Red Velvet

December 09, 2010

I was given a lovely piece of red velvet by my neighbour last week.  The beautiful colour has been smiling at me from my fabric shelves the last couple of days and seeing as it Christmas month - what better time to use it!

A child's Red Riding Hood Cape has been on my to-do list forever so it was the first item.  Although the red velvet is gorgeous on its own, the soft, warm, red and grey tartan goes with it so beautifully.

I played with the idea of embellishing it further with a little Christmas scene - but decided it looked simply delicious just how it was!  Instead of my usual pixie hood, I opted for a sweet little Peter Pan collar for a change.

Being completely reversible, it makes for a versatile garment.  It ties with pretty velvet ribbons, perfect for a gorgeous wee girl to feel extra special over Christmas - or any time of the year as it looks awesome over casual denim for a lux/casual combo...

If you know of a recipient who would LOVE this little cape (size 18 months -3 years) - you will find it for sale in my Shop shortly.

Next on my list is some very special red velvet Magic Ballet Shoes.   I mean seriously, who doesn't love red shoes....

I hope everyone's Christmas preparations are going well, and calm is still reigning supreme.  Xx

Oh my...this is amazing. If I had a little girl, I would have snapped it up! Simply enchanting.
