An Autumn Series - Leaf Art

May 31, 2013

Did you know that at the bottom of the garden there are all sorts of forest folk?  They love hanging out in the big piles of leaves that gather each Autumn.

You will sometimes be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of them.  They are tricky to spot, blending in well, but if you look really closely in your pile of leaves you might just spot some...

The happy Elm folk love to play "catch" -  especially with each other...

and the dreamy maple folk like to twirl and dance!  Sometimes you will even see them dancing as they
gracefully tumble down from the tree.

My honey drew these sweet little pictures for our girls room, from the leaves we collected on our autumn rainforest walk the other week.

Here's how to make them:

  • Press collected leaves inside a big heavy book for a week to make them nice and flat.
  • Play with the leaves a little until you get some inspiration as to what creatures they might look like...
  • Pop a little bit of glue on the underside of the leaf to adhere them to your page.
  • Draw your leaf people!

These little pictures (and a few more I haven't photographed yet) will be celebrating the last days of Autumn in our little girl's room.

xx

  5. So cute and what a sweet idea....no doubt my little girl would love these as she was more interested in the big leaves at the zoo than the animals themselves!! :))
